The last few months have been a whirlwind for Luce Prospect Pepper Jones. For now, things will calm down as the 2017 season gets underway. Jones has committed to Navarro JUCO (TX) on a baseball scholarship.
“I talked with Pep last night,” said LPG Founder Jake Luce. “I told him that this is the best part about my job: receiving that phone call when one of our Prospects commits. I couldn’t be more happy for him and the rest of his family. It’s very exciting.”
Jones’ consistent fastball is what has separated him from his peers; a pitch that has touched 91 mph on several occasions. “Pep compliments his velocity by throwing a hard slider and good changeup,” continued Luce. “He keeps hitters off-balance and hides the ball well. When he’s on, he’s very tough to beat.”
Pepper also sports a 4.0 GPA at McKinney High School, and is slated to be at the top of the rotation and the starting shortstop for the Lions in 2017.
This is the SIXTH Luce Prospect to commit in the last 6 weeks, bringing the total scholarship dollar amount to over $265,000.
