METTICA INKS PRO BASEBALL CONTRACT

Becomes First LPG Prospect in Company History to Sign Professionally

Austin Mettica, a member of the LPG Class of 2017, has become the first Luce Prospect to sign a professional baseball contract. The left-handed hitting catcher from the small town of Prosper, Texas has signed with the Florence Y’alls of the Frontier League. “I want to do what I can to make them better,” Mettica said. “Whether that is catching, behind the plate, or up at the plate.” While attending Prosper High School, Mettica dabbled in every sport but one. His tenacious attitude towards baseball, wanting to win, and contribute to his team were apparent from a young age.

ALVARADO COMMITS TO WESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE

ATHENS, TEXAS – Luce Prospect Michael Alvarado has accepted a scholarship to play baseball at Western Oklahoma State University. Alvarado currently plays right field for Athens High School in Texas, which is about 3 hours southeast of Dallas.

Alvarado says he’s worked to prepare himself for college baseball for as long as he can remember. He signed with LPG in August 2017 as a junior and, despite being two hours away from the LPG offices in McKinney, TX, frequently traveled to trainings in the DFW area.

“The travel was all worth it, and it was always something I looked forward to,” Alvarado said. He added that after training with LPG he could see “major improvement.” Further, Alvarado said that he learned valuable lessons from LPG CEO, Jake Luce. “Michael’s work ethic has been off the charts since Day 1,” Luce said. “He trusted in the process, our team at LPG, and was ultimately rewarded with a college baseball scholarship. We couldn’t be happier for him.”

RHP CALEB PUTNAM ACCEPTS SCHOLARSHIP TO DIVISION I JUCO HILL COLLEGE (TX)

BECOMES SECOND LPG CLASS OF 2019 PROSPECT TO COMMIT

October 2018 has been a month to remember for the Luce Prospect Group. The first month of the final quarter of 2018 saw yet another commitment from the Class of 2019 with RHP Caleb Putnam accepting a scholarship to attend Hill College in Texas. “We’re very excited to see Caleb pitch at the Division I JUCO level,” said LPG CEO Jake Luce. “He will be an asset the minute he steps on campus because he embodies what we look for in all our Prospects at LPG. His character and work ethic both in the classroom and on the field are two of his many strengths, along with the quality of his family and the way he treats others.” Putnam is the second Class of 2019 Prospect to accept a scholarship. He joins SS Cade Medellin (Newman University), who accepted a scholarship just a few weeks prior.

MEDELLIN COMMITS TO NEWMAN UNIVERSITY

BECOMES FIRST LPG CLASS OF 2019 PROSPECT TO COMMIT

The month of August 2018 was one of significant progress for the Luce Prospect Group. Recently, Class of 2019 SS Cade Medellin (Celina High School–TX) has committed to Newman University. “Cade has earned this opportunity to play on scholarship at the next level,” said Luce Prospect Group CEO Jake Luce. “He’s a natural leader, and has the skillset to help a program win at the college level.” When asked what advice he would give to younger Prospects, Medellin said: “If what you did yesterday was great then you haven’t done anything today.”

FOUR YEARS AND COUNTING! LUCE PROSPECT GROUP COMPLETES FOURTH YEAR OF 100% SUCCESS RATE, ADDS TOP PROSPECTS TO 2019/2020 CLASS

The month of June 2018 was one to remember for the Luce Prospect Group. LPG wrapped up it’s 4th year in a row of 100% of Luce Prospects accepting scholarship opportunities to compete at the collegiate level. There were 9 total scholarships accepted in the LPG Class of 2018, including two Division I commits (Brian Hamilton & Chase Spinning), who both signed with Division I University of New Mexico.

Additionally, LPG added three high school Prospects in the last 6 weeks, including Ryan Ahearn (Leon HS, TX), Zach Rumley (Incarnate Word Academy, TX) and Garrett Shannon (Prosper HS, TX).

“All three of these Prospects bring different things to the table,” said LPG CEO Jake Luce. “Ryan is a young catcher with all the right tools, he’s a Class of 2020 kid that will help someone win at the college level. Zach and Garrett are in the Class of 2019, with Zach being an infielder that can really swing it; Garrett is a left-handed pitcher with big-time upside. Our scouts think he can get outs right now at the collegiate level. Most importantly, all three of these kids have top-notch grades, high-quality character, and are from good families. They will fit right in to our culture here at LPG.”
